The cardboard alternative to the plastic bucket in pool treatment: CF Crystal Clear Water.
HOME & LEISUREOUTDOOR LIVINGMaintenance (filtration treatment)Cleaning productsSwimming pool treatment relies heavily on plastic for its packaging. With growing environmental and regulatory demands, evolving our packaging is no longer an option but an industrial responsibility. Certified cardboard packaging is our answer.
What is your solution?
- After introducing buckets made with recycled plastic, we have developed a high strength cardboard alternative to the traditional plastic bucket for packaging 200 g chlorine tablets. This is not just cardboard, but a certified technical packaging. The packaging is UN approved for the transport of hazardous materials, validated through a full set of regulatory tests. It meets the specific requirements of pool water treatment: • High mechanical resistance • Protection against humidity and off gassing • Long term preservation (up to 54 months) It is currently the first certified cardboard alternative to the plastic bucket in this category.
What needs have you identified among your potential customers and are you trying to meet?
- The need to significantly reduce plastic on shelves. The strengthening of the European regulatory framework (including PPWR). The continuous rise in costs linked to plastic materials and PCR. The growing consumer expectation for visible and credible environmental commitments. The search for logistical optimisation (reduced CO₂ impact) and cost control for retailers
How big do you estimate your market to be?
- France is the leading European market for private swimming pools, with more than 3 million pools. The overall pool market in France is estimated at between €2.5 and €3 billion per year. The water treatment segment accounts for around 15% of this market. Chlorine, the predominant disinfection method, represents a significant share of this segment on its own. Our innovation therefore targets a structural, recurring and high volume market, historically packaged in plastic containers.
What is your recommended retail price?
- The price positioning is equivalent to the standard plastic bucket.
What are your competitive advantages (USP: Unique Selling Proposition)?
- First UN certified cardboard alternative for pool water treatment (approved for the transport of hazardous materials). Significant reduction in plastic usage. Guaranteed preservation for up to 54 months (matching the product’s lifespan in the pool technical room). Logistical optimization (+30% per pallet). Anticipation of PPWR requirements. Strong, distinctive visual impact on shelf.
