JdC Garden Trends 2026, the year of refocusing on the essentials of gardening: plants

The green frenzy feels good!
From March 24 to 26, 2026, the JdC Garden Trends trade show brought together 1,200 buyers and 365 exhibitors from across Europe at the Parc Chanot in Marseille. Representing all distribution channels—supermarkets, DIY stores, hypermarkets, independent retailers, discount stores, e-commerce, and specialist retailers—alongside journalists and trend experts, participants exchanged ideas and began planning for the innovations of 2027. Structured around several key events, including the Garden Collections Awards, industry conferences, and trend analysis enhanced with guided tours, this 22nd edition confirmed the ongoing transformations in the garden market.

It highlights a simplification of uses and a rise in the power of assistive technologies, while introducing the "Green Zone," a space dedicated to plants, now positioned as a structuring element of the offering. This zone is linked to the different themes of the show – Outdoor Living, Home & Leisure, Gardening & Growing, and Landscaping & Building – covering all uses, from outdoor design to equipment, including decoration, leisure activities, and technical solutions.

Plants are regaining a central place

The 2026 edition confirmed the return of plant-based products as a key differentiator. More than 20 producers were present this year to showcase their ranges and new products, including varieties that are more resistant, less water-intensive, and better adapted to periods of climate stress.
Well-known varieties, such as begonias, geraniums, and hydrangeas, are returning with new visual or agronomic qualities: prolonged flowering, contrasting foliage, more structured shapes, and better durability.

A cross-sectional analysis of trade show trends

The trend analysis conferences and the new themed visits led by Manuel Rucar, from the Chlorosphère firm, allowed buyers to benefit from a guided reading of the developments observed in the aisles.
The Styles and New Uses trails, as we strolled through the stands, made it possible to put the most striking signals of the edition into perspective and to highlight the key themes that structure the upcoming collections.

Assisted gardening is emerging as a new standard.

The new products on display reflect a clear progression in gardening assistance solutions. The star of the show remains robotic lawnmowers, now more efficient thanks to AI that identifies obstacles...
Intuitive timers, humidity sensors, weather-connected tools, remote control apps, and multi-functional products all share the same goal: to simplify everyday tasks and make them safer. This trend aligns with a clearly identified market need.

Better support to remove barriers to purchase: a consumer seeking reassurance

Another key takeaway from the show: the fear of making mistakes continues to weigh heavily on gardening practices. The companies present highlighted offerings that incorporate more guidance, advice, and support. Growing kits with integrated calendars, simplified measuring tools, and decision-support systems are all part of this trend.
