Green taxation: JdC Garden Trends supports the creation of a tax credit for garden greening
As partners of the French Federation of Garden Centers and Pet Shops, JdC Garden Trends supports its advocacy for more incentive-based taxation to encourage the greening of private spaces. This measure would recognize the role of planting in adapting to climate change, while also supporting the French horticultural sector.
Making greening a lever for the ecological transition
During the examination of the draft finance bill for 2027, the French Federation of Garden Centres and Pet Shops is calling for changes to ecological taxation in favour of individuals who plant greenery in their outdoor spaces.
In his opinion piece "For green taxation"The federation advocates for the creation of a tax credit dedicated to the purchase and planting of trees, shrubs and hedges adapted to climate change.
The JdC Garden Trends team fully shares this approach and supports this demand. Planting makes a concrete contribution to the adaptation of our territories : plants help to reduce heat islands, promote biodiversity and facilitate rainwater infiltration.
These environmental benefits apply to public spaces as well as private gardens, courtyards and other green residential areas.
Recognizing the role of private gardens in the ecological transition
While local authorities already support renaturation and de-sealing projects, individuals currently do not benefit from any specific tax advantages for the purchase of plants for their gardens.
The creation of a tax credit would encourage planting adapted to climate change, while giving households a concrete way to contribute to the ecological transition on their scale.
This measure would also provide support for the French horticultural sector, garden centers, local businesses, and related jobs. It would help to promote plants and their role in creating more resilient living environments.
A demand supported by the JdC Garden Trends
The JdC Garden Trends trade show, a leading professional event for players in the garden market, is joining forces with the initiative led by its partner, the French Federation of Garden Centers and Pet Shops.
Through this support, the trade fair relays a demand that concerns the entire sector: to better recognize the environmental benefits of plantations and to encourage their development through appropriate mechanisms.
JdC Garden Trends thus supports the proposal of the Federation of Garden Centers and Pet Shops of France aimed at integrating the greening of private spaces into the field of ecological taxation, with the creation of a tax credit dedicated to plantings adapted to climate change.
