How it's made
Kubu, better known as ‘Rattan’ are the lianas that grow from trees on the island of Kalimantan. They are soaked in a mudbath for 5-6 weeks to give them their signature grey-brownish colour. The vines are then woven into a basket after which it’s ready to dry. Rattan is one of nature’s strongest and durable materials. It grows year round. Harvesting is done keeping the integrity of the tree intact, which makes it produces new vines faster.
